How land is measured in Rajasthan
Rajasthan is the state where two bighas are in common use, and they are not close in size. The pucca bigha of 3,025 yd² comes from the 165-foot Shahjahani jarib; the smaller one of 1,936 yd², which local usage calls kachha, comes from the 132-foot Gantari jarib. Each has its own biswa at a twentieth of it. A deed that says only "bigha" is ambiguous here, so it is the plot size or the chain that settles which is meant.
